On Sunday I bought two frocks to wear this week. Yesterday I wore the one from Metro Retro, and today I was going to wear the one I got from Vinnies. However I just couldn’t bring myself to do it – it’s not suitable for work. I’ll wear it on Sunday as it’s much more of a house frock than a work frock. After my sojourn back to Paddington yesterday I now have enough op shop/vintage frocks to do the whole 7 days
And I think I have a new addiction!
Today’s frock is from Endeavor Labels which I did hit on Sunday, but didn’t find anything. Yesterday afternoon the shop was less busy and so a sales girl helped me to find this gem in the retro stuff downstairs.
Isn’t it awesome? I love it. Op frocks have defintely become more expensive as the move towards recycled clothing gets more popular, so this number was $35. With the additional bonus of being highly flammable, I think it’s definitely worth the dosh
You may not be able to see it, but it has a belt made of the same material. I’ve been trying to figure out what era it is – this very informative but unreferenced website informs me polyester was the fabric du jour up until the early 70s, so perhaps 60s?
Whatever era it came from, it’s now mine and I intend to make it an integral part of my wardrobe. I’ve missed pink, so am very excited that this challenge has helped me rediscover my Barbie side (that is, pink and synthetic, not anatomically impossible).
I also think these glasses go quite well with the whole retro theme I’ve got going on today.
Thanks to all of you who have donated so far, I’ve now raised $725 for Ovarian Cancer Research, please help me get to my goal by the end of the month. You can support this important cause here.

You look lovely in pink and I do think you should try to embrace your Barbie side more! I think that shops that specialise in vintage/retro clothing and decor, such as Metro Retro & Endeavor Labels, tend to be more expensive than regular, suburban second-hand stores, probably because they’ve already sorted though all the ‘meh’ clothing to get to the gems. Also, I’ve found (and heard from an op shop addict) that the smaller charities tend to be more reasonably priced than larger charities such as Lifeline.
LOL thanks not sure I will really go Barbie, in my early 20s I had a different pink top for every day of the week, and I dyed my hair blonde, so I feel I may have evolved through that stage…
